As someone who owned Ten and Vitalogy ON TAPE, I feel qualified to tell you that if I ever see you? I will FUCK. YOU. UP.

I mean…i just…i mean…*ragestroke*

djfreshie (#875)

I am a fellow 'taper' and this list is exhausting. EXHAUSTING. My monocle cracked and fell right in my Fido Dido water bottle.

Bobby Womack (#4,074)

@IBentMyWookie I owned Billy Joel's "Storm Front" and also the soundtrack to Home Alone ON TAPE, and I imagine that if anyone ever made a LWC on either of them, I'd be angry, too.

djfreshie (#875)

@Bobby Womack

Sorry though, you'll have to LWC-reminisce about Home Alone by yourself though. As will I, regarding "Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em." You'll be pleasantly surprised where I've ranked 'Yo!! Sweetness' (It's #1)

TableNine (#1,104)

Your list is broken/missing "Release".

Ted Maul (#205)

"Ghastly" – Prince Philip.

Moff (#28)

Damn. I guess my college town's shitty alternative radio station had it right.

Moff (#28)

Br. Seamus (#217)

@Moff Pearl Jam really went downhill after "Vasoline."

djfreshie (#875)

@Br. Seamus

Fair, but 'Rooster' is a pretty good song.

jolie (#16)

Clare (#516)

@jolie A compliment for us is a compliment for you.

dntsqzthchrmn (#2,893)

This is a setup for your Pavement LWC for the same period, correct?

s. (#775)

@dntsqzthchrmn That might break the internet.

dntsqzthchrmn (#2,893)

@s. So you're saying it's scheduled for tonight at 11:59 PM?

What's the one with that cute little bee girl?

- oh, nm, I see "Bee Girl" up there now

TableNine (#1,104)

@Butterscotch Stalin I think it's either "New Age Girl" or "Lump"?

C_Webb (#855)

@Butterscotch Stalin: "No Rain" by Blind Melon.

Br. Seamus (#217)

Your listicle is WRONG and I am ENRAGED by how WRONG it is you have clearly MISLABELED the BEST songs of the PEARL JAM CATALOG as MIDDLING efforts and you probably would RATHER be listening to CANDLEBOX or SPONGE you UNBELIEVABLE JERK.

jolie (#16)

@Br. Seamus We should just cut'n'paste this into every Awl comment thread ever and be done with it.

Br. Seamus (#217)

@jolie Mawld Libs?

Charles Bogle (#8,706)

Switch out Yellow Ledbetter with Hail, Hail and you got it right.

Sutton (#1,490)

And, then above "1," every other song by every other band ever.

ericdeamer (#945)

I was there. All of these sucked.

ericdeamer (#945)

@ericdeamer And I seriously would rather be listening to Candlebox or Sponge, or at least they all seem about the same with the benefit of hindsight.

moneyfetish (#13,643)

I demand the "the whale song"

Bobby Womack (#4,074)

A friend of mine is a gigantic Pearl Jam fan, and I just don't get it. So much of their material is middling, so much of their good stuff sounds similar, the lyrics almost never make sense, Vedder's an alcoholic jerk who kicked out the drummer for letting the money go to his head and then turned around himself and bought a Porsche, and they named themselves after jism. Really, that last one does it.

I do like that song they wrote for the promos for the last season of 'Rescue Me.'

dntsqzthchrmn (#2,893)

> and they named themselves

So, how do you feel about Steely Dan?

Bobby Womack (#4,074)

@dntsqzthchrmn Oh god, is that a boner joke? Have I missed out on that this whole time?

Bobby Womack (#4,074)

@dntsqzthchrmn Wikipedia explained it, nevermind. Steely Dan didn't get the airplay that Pearl Jam and Green Day did throughout my adolescence/college, so I don't hold it against them.

SidAndFinancy (#4,328)

@dntsqzthchrmn Or 10cc? Or the Lovin' Spoonful?

Dave Bry (#422)

Or Come?

bestestuary (#8,955)

Generally agreeing with this whole list, and your #1 in particular. Good job.

nomorecrackpipes (#8,243)

Impressive you got the dustbin b-sides from Lost Dogs, yet missed "Release" (which would/should be in the top ten). Also missed "Out of My Mind," but I won't hold that one against you two.

I'd make some changes.

DennyCrane (#1,803)

I'm of mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, your top 5 is perfect. On the other hand, "Elderly Woman," "Rearviewmirror" and "Go" should be up higher, and "Porch" should be 531,653th.

Rick Paulas (#1,565)

Oh, shit. "Release" is evidently one that got lost in the various shuffle of Word documents and notes. My bad. Recalculating …

Sticking it at 28, right in between "Animal" and "Spin the Black Circle." Many apologies.

Pandemic Endemic (#3,825)

This list is incomplete until the inclusion of the Ten Fan Club 45's "Olympic Gold" and that other one. You know, that one with the KISS and Evil Knievil action figures all over it.

Rollo (#3,202)

Hm. I didn't realize that it was possible to differentiate this type of thing.

GailPink (#9,712)

"Black" would maybe be at #1 and the rest of the list would be blank. Just kidding. Sort of. Not really.

bsvenpetersson (#13,693)

I think "Rooster" is a pretty good song.

whizz_dumb (#10,650)

and from 1997 to Present? Just list 5 and put "Rival" at #1.

Screw_Michigan (#8,015)

65, 64 and 60 are ranked so pathetically low it is a disgrace to music and the band. Where is Out of My Mind?
