Bob Hoskins, 1942-2014

"Actor Bob Hoskins, who was best known for roles in The Long Good Friday and Who Framed Roger Rabbit, has died of pneumonia at the age of 71." Also Mona Lisa. (Do not watch this clip if you have not seen The Long Good Friday, and also take a moment to reconsider the choices you have made thus far in life that have brought you to a point where you still have not seen The Long Good Friday. Don't even tell me if you haven't seen Mona Lisa. God, did you grow up in a box or something?)

Sadly there is no video of his performance as Nathan Detroit on stage in the 80s but he was great in that too.

Pennies From Heaven hasn't got much of a mention in most of the obits, maybe because it's so dark and painful to watch, but it really is a classic. (And having watched that you go on the Dennis Potter thread to The Singing Detective).
