Maybe popped collars are acceptable for people who accept fashion advice from the Wall Street Journal, but… no.
Would that mean "detractors" in the sense of those would gleefully kick the wearer's ass and then urinate upon his person while he was on the ground retching? In that sense the article would be correct.
