Eh, I get what he's trying to say. He's not likening himself to one of the most celebrated civil rights leaders in the world because the Times magazine rejected his work; he's pointing out the magazine killed one of the most important civil rights documents not because of the content, but because of arbitrary and capricious editorial policy.
