Joe South, 1940 – 2012
Hippie-era country music writer Joe South, whose most famous song, "I Never Promised You a Rose Garden," was a smash hit for Lynn Anderson in 1971, died of a heart attack yesterday at the age of 72 in his home near Atlanta. Here's a video of Elvis, obviously wasted on all sorts of crazy drugs, singing another great song South wrote, "Walk a Mile in My Shoes."

Man, if that's obviously wasted, I have some explaining to do at work. But more to the point, how do I get a guitar sound like that?
