What Was Your Favorite Sentence in the Barney Frank 'Vows'?

I think mine was this one: "The bridegrooms planned to wear tuxedos by Joseph Abboud, which Mr. Frank noted was a union shop."

@jolie Gurl, it's D.C.

My favourite line was obviously the one about watching tv together over the phone. Retired Congresspeople: they're just like US!

"Lawmakers on Capitol Hill said they began to see changes in their usually cantankerous colleague. 'I should’ve known you were here,' said one leading House Republican after bumping into Mr. Ready in a hallway. 'Barney was nice to me today.'”

I don't know what I like about it more: The idea that even Republican leadership are starting to realize that same-sex relationship are a real positive factor in the lives of gay people and not just a collection of sinful acts, or the picture of Barney's enemies cowering in terror of his sass.

Ease of access or not, the Marriotts are Romney supporters, Barney!

"The wedding took place at a no-frills Marriott hotel in Newton. (Mr. Frank said he chose the location for ease of access.)"

Well, that Marriott is right off Rte. 128.

@Bittersweet It's also pretty nice. What's this no-frills business?

Bittersweet (#765)

@boyofdestiny Have they fixed it up? I stayed there in '99 when we moved back to town and it was…meh. With paper-thin walls.

JennyBeans (#7,034)

@Bittersweet It's nice. We had guests stay there for our wedding (which was elsewhere, but whatever).

Hope they played the International Ladies Garment Workers Union theme song as they walked down the aisle:

a carpenter and welder who specializes in awnings and runs a small shop, Jim of Most Trades

Just awesome.

@Clarence Rosario

That was probably the third place I stopped reading to giggle joyfully. Best Vows ever.

laurel (#4,035)

@Clarence Rosario Mr. Ready seems just adorable, inside and out.

I also liked the sentence describing what they planned to wear, given that the article was accompanied by a picture of them wearing tuxedos! (Perhaps the Times was unable to inspect the labels and therefore didn't want to jump to conclusions, risking another WMD-level scandal?)

Those… corrections… Oy!

“I was like, ‘You know what? You spend more time with flight attendants than you do with me.’ ”

While I'm of course happy for him, it's bittersweet being reminded that he's retiring. He's my Rep. and every time I voted for him I viewed it as my tiny little personal fuck you to the wingnuts. I'm sure whoever replaces him will be a nice Democrat and all, but it won't be the same.
