Poet Awarded

Tracy K. Smith, whose "My God, It's Full Of Stars" appeared in The Poetry Section back in October of 2010, won the Pulitzer Prize today. As did some other people. Congratulations!

YAY! Congrats to Tracy Smith! … and also, the Awl's Poetry editor.

1. Wowsers!
2. And no fiction prize. Dang. Somewhere publicists weep.

@Smitros Re #2 — cold, wasn't it?

@Smitros: To our favorite poet, Smitros. (Kinda like Steve Marriott finally making it to Cleveland.)

Respect. And yes, praise to the Bibbins. (The finalists were good too — who were the judges?)

This is awesome; congratulations guys. Is this the first Awl Pal (not sure if poetry contributors are considered Awl Pals but I'll go with it) to win a mainstream award for work that appeared here first?

I'm happy to contribute to the post-Pulitzer sales bump for Life on Mars.
