Consider The Duck

"Why do we laugh at ducks? Why do we find them funny? Did Walt Disney choose Donald Duck as a cartoon character because ducks are inherently comic, or do ducks seem all the more comical because of the creation of Donald Duck?… Because ducks are fat? Is it because we eat them? (At least, some of us do). Is it because of both attributes combined, so that when we look upon them and see how bulbous-bodied they are, we somewhere deep in our minds – at least, the carnivores amongst us – cannot help seeing them upside down on a plate, and so cannot take them seriously as living beings?"
Well? IS IT?

Anyone remember the anti-tobacco poster featuring animals smoking, with the tagline "It Looks Just as Cool When You Do It?" The duck on that poster was undeniably cool, much more so than me when I smoked.

No one is going to make a Mitch Hedberg reference?

Speaking of ducks….

"Duck, duck, gray duck" or "Duck, duck, goose"?

We played the gray version….but my east coast cousins claim the goose is superior.

@hockeymom ??? I've never heard of your version.

It's goose.

C_Webb (#855)

@happymisanthrope Me either. "Gray duck" gives them too much time to start running!

@C_Webb I've never heard the "gray duck" version either, and I grew up in Wisconsin.

I will give a gold sovereign (and a machete to the forehead) to anyone who can honestly say they've ever laughed at Donald Duck.

Dude, have you ever stepped on a duck? Hilarious!

@Clarence Rosario Dude, have you ever slept on a DUX? Luxurious!

Some of us also eat swans.

@SeanP pleased to meet you, your majesty!
