We are going to draw the generational line right down the middle here between those of you who are all, "Who?" and those of you who will be cursing my name for the rest of the day as you try to get this song out of your heads. So: Stacey Lynn Swain, you turn 53 today! Remember that time you were on "The Facts Of Life?" I do! You played an aspiring musician! I think you wore spandex leggings at some point! I spent four years learning the Spanish language and can barely remember one word today, let alone any kind of conjunction or idiomatic expression, but I remember that episode! The human brain is truly and mysterious and ultimately comical thing. Anyway, happy birthday! I hope you put on this dress and go celebrate.

25

Not only do I remember that episode, I feel about 75% sure her character's name was Cinnamon.
@willpie@twitter You are 100% correct. That piece of trivia is probably taking the place of "trigonometry" in my brain as important thing to remember.
I think El Debarge was the better musical cameo episode of TFOL.
@chrisafer Are you trying to say that Tootie meeting Jermaine Jackson backstage didn't make you cry? Monster.
Aaaagh! Damn you for reminding me a) this exists b) how old we all are c) that the lyrics to Two of Hearts are taking up space that I tried to use for molecular physics. Damn it. (weeping soft middleaged tears, clutching tattered 80s memorabilia) (fade to black)
@jetztinberlin I feel exactly the same way. Guess we're just two hearts that beat as one, together, forever.
@melis I need you, Melis!
I'm not cursing you but one of my sisters will be. I get to remind her of the time she put fake ivy in her hair in high school, in a bid to become a 16-year-old, midwestern, suburban version of Stacey Q.
The internet....so good for bullying!
I feel the need to clarify that the molecular physics was later, years after Stacey Q took up her cursed brain cells. I'm not THAT old.
How is she so much older than Lisa "Lisa Lisa" Velez (turns 46 in January)? Today's playlist is also gonna have The Jets and Exposé.
@Charismatic Megafauna You HAVE to listen to the Nu Shooz pandora station. It will kill you.
We young'uns had to learn about her from Party Monster, but oh thank god I did.
Such is the power of Stacey Q that just seeing the post title on Twitter was enough to put the song in my head until Kingdom Come. Not that I mind at all. Now if you'll excuse me, this ponytail needs to be much, much higher.
@jolie You know it's high enough when your eyebrows stretch back to your ears.
I'd like to take a moment to remind everyone (or make everyone aware of) Stacey's awesomeness BEFORE "Two of Hearts." Her first band, SSQ, was a fantastic New Wave/synth band. If you can get your hands on their album, Playback, do so. They also contributed a couple of tracks to the "Return of the Living Dead" soundtrack (such as this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MbZT5e7A64)
A few of my faves of theirs:
"Playback" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IdK-PWMOEM
"Synthicide" http://youtu.be/uSbFBerKIPI
"Walkman On" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5RikEZmL5A
@KellySkittles You beat me to it!
I-I-I-I-I-I don't need, don't need her.
I remember being on a car trip with my mom when I was a kid and this song came on the radio (we must have been away from home and looking for radio stations because my mom generally only permitted country music in the car) and I was like "this song is awesome, leave it on!" And then it was some kind of extended remix where there's an interlude in which Stacey Q makes all kinds of faux sex moaning noises, and shit got REAL UNCOMFORTABLE in that car.
@jfruh Apropos of 80s sex noises, have you heard "Hungry Like the Wolf" on the radio lately? Sex screams HEAVILY edited since the Rio days.
@C_Webb: YES. What's up with that? I can't tell whether it's prudery or editing for length.
Can someone please tell me what relatively recent commercial/TV show this song was featured on before I rip my hair out?
@boyofdestiny Nevermind. It was on the episode of Always Sunny where Dennis is a gigolo. Crisis averted!
@boyofdestiny I went bananas last week trying to figure out where I'd heard Eric Carmen's "Make Me Lose Control." It was in Season 1 of "Dexter."
This song will forever be known as the soundtrack to the Summer I was first plagued by boners.
She's no Nancy Martinez...
