Brett Ratner Under The Impression That He's A Storyteller
“I apologize for any offense my remarks caused. It was a dumb way of expressing myself. Everyone who knows me knows that I don’t have a prejudiced bone in my body. But as a storyteller I should have been much more thoughtful about the power of language and my choice of words.”
—Director Brett Ratner is sorry he said that "rehearsal's for fags."

Think about your language, choices, etc.
In my younger and more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice that I've been turning over in my mind ever since: "Rehearsal's for fags." He didn't say any more, but we've always been unusually communicative in a reserved way, and I understood that he meant a great deal more than that.
God, I hope I never in my life have to say "Everyone who knows me knows that I don’t have a prejudiced bone in my body." Does anyone ever believe that one?
@Jared The friend of every homophobe is also an accomplished anatomist.
@Jared Terry Richardson used a similar line when accused to molesting his models. But was more along the lines of, everyone knows I’m a total perv so they should have known what they were in for.
@kitten_witawip That's exactly what's written (instead of washing instructions) on the labels of American Apparel shirts.
Pretty much any time you have to say, "Everyone who knows me knows I'm not a racist/homophobe/xenophobe/kitten-hater," you've already lost.
Depends what you're rehearsing, doesn't it? Like, rehearsing shirtless bench pressing is… ok, wait, no. Um. Rehearsing dressing as a cowboy and riding a… nope, still faggy. This is tough!
@deepomega Gay porn might be excused but I am not the one to ask about that.
Of course he's a story-teller. Who among us can honestly say RUSH HOUR 2 isn't a contemporary Gilgamesh? But then, Enkidu was a fag.
I so went to NYU undergrad film with this guy. He, um, succeeded in film..
"Ratner’s gaffe could be damaging since he is the producer of this year’s Oscar telecast."
Oh. Well then.
@TennisCourtOaf oh, well, I am definitely tuning in for that.
