Is It Going To Snow This Weekend?
You know, the first ten years of my life were a non-stop barrage of the word "potential," and look at the sorry way I turned out. I wouldn't worry too much about the snow just yet. We're just gonna get stuck with rain and cold and darkness and the inexorable sense that life has been a series of missed opportunities and bad decisions and even though you know who you are it's too late to do anything about it and soon—but not soon enough—you'll be dead. I mean, there WILL be snow eventually. I think this winter's actually going to be kind of brutal. It's just not going to be this weekend. But I am confident in my forecast for gloom.
Weather.com is full of shit. They've gone all Fox 5. Fine print says "interior Northeast," which NYC ain't. I haven't been this irate since that time they tried to pass off regular doppler as Super Doppler.
You shouldn't use for-profit weather websites. They have no incentive to be accurate. http://www.weather.gov/

@Brian Aren't the for-profits just repackaging (badly) government weather data to begin with? It's not like they operate their own satellites.

@NFK Yes, that's pretty much the deal. They may add some analysis, but it's pretty much just warmed over NOAA data.
@SeanP My weather routine: go here, type in zip code, done. Weather data tastes better raw. Also, I am so lazy I will do this to get outside temps rather than just cracking a window.

Actually this I'm planning on making Halloween preps (I'm dressing as a cowboy and taking my daughter trick or treating Monday, and after that the plan is to gorge myself on crappy chocolate). But don't get me wrong, your plans sound fun too.
