People Who Get Up Early Are Better Than You

"[A] new study finds that people who get out of bed by 7 a.m., on average, do better in the workplace and have a lower chance of being depressed, stressed and overweight." They also probably think life is worth living and stuff. Sigh. I'm going back to bed.

Couldn't it just be that these jerks are happier and healthier because our society is biased towards them?

@davetar Definitely.

I got out of bed at 7 am for 6 years to go to work and was fat, miserable and exhausted all the time. I've been unemployed for 3 months, and now sleep in to 9am. I've lost weight, am well rested and mostly stress free (other than the whole unemployed thing).

@cherrispryte If I get out of bed before 7, that means I've had less than 7 hours of sleep, and am starving, tired, and cranky all day, so I'm guessing only MORNING PEEEEOPLE were included in this crap study.

I'm a night person who likes to sleep all day, but I recently got a new job as a 9 to 5 cube jockey. My alarm goes off at 7:04. And yet, I am 1) Overweight; 2) depressed; and 3) stressed. I also doubt I do better at work, as I tend to snooze until lunch, then work hard in the afternoon.

I used to work at a newspaper, where I could sleep until noon every day. Granted, I was still overweight, but I sure as hell wasn't depressed or stressed (except by the state of the newspaper industry), and I worked my ass off.

It's because the only reason to get out of bed before 7 is to go to the gym before work, after which you'll float to your desk on a cloud of self-righteousness and propel yourself through the day by constantly patting yourself on the back. Also, you'll be thinner.
