Here it is: the hot new track from Nina Katchadourian, the artist who brought you Sky Mall Kitties. In it, she asks: what is the jitney? (There's a SPOILER in the video title!)

Jitney : noun. A bus, but for white people.

@sixlocal: A freezing bus.

@sixlocal: But confusingly, also: a taxi service, for black people.

I kind of want to defend the Jitney's honor? But then again, I take the North Fork line, which is obviously the redheaded stepchild of the Jitneys.

But seriously, the Jitney drops me a mere mile from my grandparent's house, and it is the best thing ever, if you are carless and live 350 miles from your ailing grandparents and have been up to see them A LOT this summer so knowing that I can get from my apartment down here up to out there without having to rely on rides from anyone at any point of the trip is a really good thing and don't mock the Jitney cause it makes me really happy. ::sob::

"Related stories: Why White People Are Fat, Drunk and Sad" Because they're not walking out to the Hamptons, like their hearty white ancestors did?

The only thing I know about the Jitney is that it was Dan's mode of transport out to the Hamptons on Gossip Girl. Which, in the world of GG, = low class.

Given the "cool" factor of the Hudson River Valley has gone sky-high, why don't we all start up the "Hudson Jitney Company"??? Stops in Cold Spring, Rhinebeck, Hudson, etc. Maybe we'll even venture over to the "uncool" west side of the river…

@sigerson: Can't you just get a buttload of hippie gifts in Rhinebeck and say you crossed the river?

I live in NYC. Can anyone tell me:

1) where I can find some good, used handguns
2) where I can catch the Hampton jitney?

Thank you kindly.
