"Across the Web, longtime Netflix users are saying that they feel betrayed by the company."
Eeeeaaauuuugggghhhhh, I want something DIFFERENT to complain about.
I know I'm gonna "catch flack" for this in certain circles, but I mean come on: FUCKING WHITE PEOPLE.
@Matt do you mean as in NETFLIX: only used by FUCKING WHITE PEOPLE, or as in NETFLIX: run by FUCKING WHITE PEOPLE, or neither, or both?
@Amasa Amos I'm flinging flack from my circle.
Ahhh first world problems. That's not gonna stop me from complaining about it on the interwebz though!
AND YOU ALL LAUGHED WHEN I WARNED YOU ABOUT BLOCKBUSTER'S DEMISE. YOU LAUGHED!
@IBentMyWookie Don't it make your redbox, blue?
Netflix offered me a popsicle and then took me behind the Piggly Wiggly and cornholed me.
@saythatscool It bought you a Faygo afterward, though. That was nice.
Look, my outrage is finite, and right now it's reserved for the French.
That's why no one will ever pry my Betamax out of my hands. Or my wire-shelf thing that holds a TV and stuff. Since I don't usually keep it in the hands. I mean, with a drink in one hand and a smoke in the other … I suppose I could sit on the Betamax or something, but anyway, I'm off to watch "Smokey and the Bandit II" again.
longtime Netflix users
You mean those people who signed up two months ago when Netflix replaced all the Criterion stuff with Disney flicks? You know, it really seems like it was LAST NOVEMBER when people commented en masse how they don't care to sign up for Netflix streaming (this new thing) due to limited choice of movies.
Longtime users? Why not just called them The Sacred Herd or something?
@Niko Bellic Pretttttty sure everyone I know whining about this/exploring other options (did you know you can stream unlimited if you sign up for Amazon Prime??)/etc has been Netflix subscribers since the fucking great beyond so yeah, I'd say that the people most pissed off about this are the people who have been paying $10 or less for years who just had their service cost doubled with a shitty explanation, for sure.
Please note: I am not a Netflix subscriber nor do I think raising the price of their service is unreasonable, though their PR team needs to be basically fired immediately for the way they announced it.
@allyzay It's only the unlimted streaming + dvds that's doubled, and that plan exists since October 2010.
@Niko Bellic Right, so effectively the price just went DOWN for long-time users if they continue to only use the original service, right? Everyone needs to seriously shut up about this, it's not like the fee went up 500%. They're phasing out the postal model so they can refocus those funds to broaden the instant selection. It's so obvious, and it's a smart move.
As I Netflix user since January 2004 I think I am qualified to represent the herd. I wouldn't go so far as betrayed. But I might give up the streaming because of the weak selection.
@isadora_ink Personally, I feel like I've been ripping them off for the last year or so. I'll pay the 6 bucks more per month.
@Matt Yes as long as you're not a starving african child you have no right to complain about anything ever. I should wake up everyday with rainbows shooting out my ass because I work in call center.
@Raymond Malloy@twitter Yeah, must be nice. I work way on the outskirts of call.
I don't have a TV
@LondonLee I don't have MTV.
@saythatscool I got to move these color TVs.
@SidAndFinancy I play the guitar on the MTV.
Doesn’t anybody read anymore? There was an article JUST THE OTHER DAY on CNN Money about how Sony is renegotiating their contract with Netflix and how, now that Netflix has competition (Amazon, Hulu, YouTube(haha yeah right has anyone seen the movies on YouTube…hardly competition for anyone)) the big movie corporations are demanding more for their content.
So it’s not as if Netflix is just arbitrarily upping their membership fees, their costs are going up and as a result our costs are going up. It’s called capitalism and it’s the world we live in. If people really feel the need to complain they should at least aim their fury at the right corporations.
@nogreeneggs And if you don't read CNN MONEY you are NOT READING, people!
@SidAndFinancy I hardly read CNN Money, so I don't think it's like the end-all of reading or anything. But it was on the front page of CNN and I got the impression that the Sony renegotiation was a big deal that people would read about. Guess not.
It just irritates me that people are lashing out at Netflix when their choices seem to be, piss of your customers or go bankrupt at the hands of big movie companies. Maybe Netflix customers would prefer they just get crushed, or have to sell to a larger company and then that company hikes membership rates anyway.
