Kids Sing Smiths Song

You have perhaps heard of the Internet sensation that is the PS22 Chorus? Quick primer:

The PS22 Chorus is an elementary school chorus from Public School 22 in Graniteville, Staten Island (New York). It is composed of 60-70 fifth-graders, and is directed by Gregg Breinberg. Students are assigned to the chorus after an annual auditioning process at the beginning of each school year. PS22 is the largest elementary school in Staten Island which draws students from a wide cross section of ethnic groups and socio-economic levels. The chorus meets twice a week during school hours to practice, and performs throughout the year at school functions, local events, and on special requests.[1] It has been featured on several major national news and music networks after its videos had gained international attention within the popular video-sharing site YouTube.

Indeed. Anyway, this is one of their latest, which is adorable in and of itself, but seems especially sweet since I discovered it thanks to this source. It made me smile, at least.

I get why this is supposed to make me go "awwww" but seeing children sing "Haven't had a dream in a long time" makes me profoundly sad. Also, I feel like whomever is behind this is trying to trick me into having kids by assuming that my uterus is nostalgic for the '80s. Finally, while I get that the lyrics probably have different meanings to children, I'd rather they be kept apart from misanthropy until it becomes a necessity. Moping and adoring children are diametrically opposed pleasures, and trying to make two great tastes taste great together is perhaps better left to the good people at Reese's.

@lululemming But stay to the end! And the "Not Will Smith" comment makes you realize that they are still kids. Plus, you get to see the cute, music teacher's face. Which is very cute. And his smile makes the sad go away.

@lululemming You should see their version of 'Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others.'

@lululemming Just be glad they didn't sing Bighead Strikes Again.

Sweetness
sweetness I was only joking when I said
I'd like to smash every tooth in your head.
Oh sweetness
sweetness I was only joking when I said
by rights you should be bludgeoned in your bed.

At least they're not singing 'Suffer Little Children'

"Oh yeah. I got a perfect song for the kids to sing."

Those kids really need a day off. They should visit a museum, see some priceless works of art. During lunchtime, they can eat pancreas.

I really enjoyed this! Until I read some of these comments.

Come on, they do Lady Gaga and Coldplay too. Let's focus, people.
