I'm Not Drunk, I'm LEARNING

Oh, Science, you are always there to lift me up when I'm feeling a little down: "A new study from the Waggoner Center for Alcohol and Addiction Research at The University of Texas at Austin says that getting drunk primes certain areas of our brain to learn and remember things more clearly…. Among the things learned when drinking alcohol is that it is rewarding."

If you could quit drinking and live to be 85, or continue to drink and meet your demise at 75, would you get off the sauce?

@dado i would most certainly keep drinking. everyone knows it's all downhill from 75.

This is why gin is called The Scholar's Lament.

As many may already know from experience, the ratio of drunkenness to hangover intensity inverses with age. Where I once could get drunk x2 causing a hangover x1, now it's like 1/2 drunk results in hangover x80. It's sad, the spark between booze and me is a pilot light now and our exciting children have moved out of the house.

@whizzard I don't know what I'm doing right (maybe downing higher quality booze than I used to? the pre-sleep trifecta: burrito + glass of water + deadly aspirin?) but my hangovers are all but disappearing as I get closer to 30. Cheers!

@dearheart Don't worry. After 30 they'll come back with a vengeance.
