Today In Racism: Soap and Cupcakes
In Indiana, there is growing controversy over a store selling racist soaps with brand names like "Kolored Kids" and "Darkie." (See the initial report here.) This seems important to point out, since it's not in the segment above: "Fox59 spoke to two national experts Thursday on Black Americana and both tell me these kinds of soaps with these labels NEVER ever existed in our history. These aren't reproductions but what are called 'fantasy items' printed purely for profit."

It's wholly possible that Noblesville, Indiana is one of the worst places in the world. I get hives driving through. So this doesn't surprise me very much.

Okay, pardon me for asking a question of the WTF type. Because WTF, at 00:21 and again in the hands of Nostalgic Lady at 00:24, Fox makes sure to get a fleeting but legible fix on a piece of soap called Little Pussy. At the very beginning you can also see a bar of Gay Johnny soap and another bar of Morning Cock soap. (The earlier report that Balk links to contains a passing reference to "Gay Johnny.") The Fox producer clearly has Nostalgic Lady hold up "Little Pussy" as though it were relevant to the question of racism-or-nostalgia. So many levels of bullshit slathered on here.
