Ten Days in Haiti: A Photo Diary

Awl Occasional Contributing Photographer Stephen Kosloff was in Haiti from November 20 to November 30 to take pictures of the cholera epidemic and national elections, which were held on November 28. Here are 26 of his shots.

Yeah, really good stuff.

It looks so pretty when you're not on the ground.

That's what I was thinking. There is one picture of the truly dirty part of Haiti, a lot of sanitized areas where the NGO class works and lives, and then a lot of pretty shots from the air.

Abe Sauer (#148)

In all fairness, there are numerous members of the NGO class who live in areas far from "sanitized."

I wouldn't sat that the photos on the ground aren't pretty. The one of the marketplace in Petionville is fairly gorgous (to me); all swirling blues and the shattered little bit of yellow in the lower right. The prettyness there is even more potent maybe because it is one and the same with the suffering of the subjects. These are smart photos.

I wouldn't sat that the photos on the ground aren't pretty. The one of the marketplace in Petionville is fairly gorgeous (to me); all swirling blues and the shattered little bit of yellow in the lower right. The prettiness there is even more potent maybe because it is one and the same with the suffering of the subjects. These are smart photos.

Thinks for all the good things you have done for Haiti.

Incredible pictures of the north coast of Haiti. Great to see that the UN is on the ground, and helping the cholera epidemic.
