Awl pal Seth Colter Walls put in some serious time scouring the David Foster Wallace archives in Austin. There's a gallery of some of Wallace's notes and annotations here, and, for Infinite Jest fans, a collection of deleted scenes here.
This is great, though I admit I was distracted by the story about how Anne Hathaway's breasts are distracting.
This is a great piece, I very much enjoyed (even though it's tinged with the obv sadness of DFW's death.)
There was stuff that DFW left out of Infinite Jest?
That's shades of Coppola's "even longer" cut of "Apocalypse Now."
Be sure to read the 4-page footnote/story of the panhandler (or, in Jest-speak, the "stem-artist"). It's great.
The half-way house scenes were always some of my favorites. So many sweet/evil/interesting people in there. Also, I heart Gately.
Thank you, Seth.
