Jay Electronica (Featuring John F. Kennedy) "The Announcement"
Okay. This is pretty excellent. Jay-Z took a break from promoting his book to throw a party Friday night to announce the signing of the New Orleans-born MC Jay Electronica to his Roc Nation label. With so many people up-in-arms about the death of hip-hop, and how the big corporate labels are ruining everything (and these complaints are not without merit), it's nice to see a big corporate entity sign someone who makes records that sound this much like crazy-ass Kool-Keith space rap. I actually think it's been a good strong year for hip-hop. And, I guess, zombies in general. Here's another song from the signing, this one featuring both Jays.
And here's some vintage Keith.

Go listen to Killah Priest-"Heavy Mental." In my opinion, Jay's space rap is so far removed from Keith's it doesn't really bear comparison.
But it goes deeper than content alone. Jay Elec has never released a full length, due in part to his self-avowed perfectionism, while Keith will put out anything, seemingly oblivious to quality control.
