"Congress is a funny, insular place. Mastering it the way Pelosi did is an art that is much more a liability than an asset with voters. Her outspokenness, her unapologetic liberalism, and — yes — her gender, made her a rich target for Republicans, especially when the economy collapsed. But she refused to back down."
—Steve Kornacki writes Nancy Pelosi's political obituary.

When it comes to mass opinion, the best advice for a speaker of the House is maybe actually this: Don't be a lady! Americans hate it when ladies shout!
Dude, it's not called the House of Ladies. I don't even know how she got there! Who let this broad in?!
I just want to say that I was once backstage at the Broadway "Billy Elliot" at the same time as her. She seemed nice. So.
(Don't ask what I was doing backstage at "Billy Elliot", btw.)
I'll give her a hug.
I'll miss Nancy Pelosi a hundred times more as speaker (how cool was it to hear "Madame Speaker…" at the SOTU?) than I'll miss Russ Feingold as senator. There, I said it.
She learned from Willie Brown, CA speaker for life and king of the legislative process. He didn\'t give two shits about what people thought of him and I hope she doesn\'t either.
Boehner just has this "Ok, now it's time to wash my dick" attitude that Nancy never gave off.
Smeg Whitman?
So you get a political obituary after winning reelection with 80% of the vote?
They're going to have to carry her out of congress in a coffin. But now she's just one of hundreds…
