To The Internet

I love this: "I want to roll my eyes on the internet. I want to LOL and OMG on the internet. I want someone to tell me to go DIAF on the internet. I want to be able to talk about the newest internet meme, without having to actually pronounce meme, because fuck people. I don't know. But I can look it up on the internet! I want to read news and gossip and dramz on the internet." There is so much more and you should read it all. Thank you.

The web is ALIVE again!

This is so true. One of the web developers in my office one time turned around and said something like, "One of these days, I want to be responsible for a maymay."

"What the hell is a maymay?"

"You know, a maymay. Like a thing on the internet that everyone passes around. Like lolcats."

"Oooooh."

Matt (#26)

How did he pronounce "lolcats" though?

This made me laugh so hard. (May also have been because I'm a little loopy right now from lack of sleep.)

And I apologize if this posts like three times but the Awl apparently hates me right now.

@Matt: THIS.

HAHA. Especially funny for me because that's my dog's nickname (her real name is Maisie). Will now go home and call her Meme. It's not like she answers anyway, unless I have meat or cheese.

I'm your Auntie Meme!

hockeymom (#143)

I'll admit it. I just looked up DIAF.

(Die In A Fire…I know there are at least two of you out there who also had no clue.)

carpetblogger (#306)

3. I did the same

"LIKE THOSE A.O.L. CATS. YEAH."

Tulletilsynet (#333)

I was totally certain I could count on somebody to google that for me.

I love this too, but I didn't now how to hit the heart symbol or reblog it because I still don't understand how to use tumblr really, so instead I posted it to facebook and twitter. Is that okay?

ericdeamer (#945)

Also, a typo. Time to commence with the self-murder

skahammer (#587)

Is there some the-internet-is-*so*-tired meme that the author is raging against? Because to me the internet has been, for ten solid years, what listening to the radio briefly was for Lester Bangs in, what, the late Sixties I think: I just can't wait to get up in the morning and see what brand-new cool stuff people have invented since yesterday.

Regina Small (#2,468)

She's moved to a new place where she hasn't had internet access for the past week or so. (I'll stay in earnestness mode, I think.)

LondonLee (#922)

I want to roll my eyes too. In fact I just was while reading that.
