Life Lessons From Conservative Women

Fire from the Heartland sounds amazing: "Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann tells the story of working and saving for years to afford a pair of contacts only to lose them shortly after while riding her bike. This story was an example of one of the ways she learned how much more you value things when you have to work hard and save to get them."

"Women like Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann are really the unintended consequences of the women's liberation movement."

I thought a little too on the head ending shots on Mad Men which made me feel awkward for being a straight-dude-feminist who didn't like this weeks big on feminism episode was the real unintended consequence of the women's liberation movement.

Argh meant 'on the nose' and did not intend to sound as douche-ily self-aggrandizing as it seems I did. (monday is bourbon night)

if only she'd had a decent health care plan that included vision coverage. also, how much did those contacts cost and/or how shitty was her job?

mathnet (#27)

(Because that's the only remarkable angle to the story.)

Slava (#216)

I'm just started trying out contact lenses this week and it cost me about $40 (CANADIAN) for 15 pairs of dailies. I'm not even sure about how it used to be back in the days… did people just get a pair of contacts and wear them for years?

LondonLee (#922)

Yes. Disposables are quite a recent thing, I got my first pair in the 80s and I actually paid for some sort of insurance to get me a replacement pair in case I lost them. And don't get me started on the chemicals you had to clean them in every day.

(Yeah, I never did that, either.)

"From women during the frontier pioneer days to Phylis Schlafly…" This makes no sense. Phylis Schalfly was a frontier woman.

I don't have time to watch the whole thing. Can you please tell me if there's a scene in which someone churns butter?

garge (#736)

It's just a trailer .. they can give the climax away for free.

I'm fascinated by the choice to include 1.5 seconds of a bodega owner getting robbed at gunpoint at 1:28.

"The assault is so arrogant. It's so extreme."

HiredGoons (#603)

god, that face. Her chin is so sharp.

So she is mad that they are only $15/box online now? She must hate the internet for taking away all those life lessons from days of yore.

I have insurance and mine are still $40/box.

I bought Acuview here I can't remember exactly how much I paid but it was less than 20 dollars/box.

Conservative Women Core Values:

Lack of footwear
No contraception
Culinary skills

And the vagueness of their mission, which could have the tagline "Because something feels a little…off."

My sandwich isn't going to make itself!

I watched it three times–threw up mu lunch twice–and I finally figured it out!! It's not a glass ceiling they've got there, it is a magnifying glass, and we are the smoldering ants. Right?!

Niko Bellic (#1,312)

I'm not clicking on that video. Everything I know about these people I learned from Tom Waits' song Murder in the Red Barn.

City_Dater (#2,500)

Alternate title choice was "Free To Be… Opressed and Opressing."

How are you gonna keep them down on the farm once they've seen Karl Hungus?

HiredGoons (#603)

Someone gave me a copy of 'A Choice Not an Echo' once as a joke.

One book I'm glad I lost.

"You value things more if you had to work extra hard for them, so don't be discouraged if you're getting paid less because you're a lady – you'll just love your apron THAT MUCH MORE when you can finally buy it!"

Every time I see the name Ann Coulter I am reminded of the time my ex boyfriend told a room full of people he'd like grudge fuck her brains out….figures she'd be the sluttily clad one of the bunch.

zidaane (#373)

This was deal breaker right?
