The title track to MGMT's recent album is a nice song that sounds like it could have been on Beck's Mutations. The new video is, I think, even better-although it's very sad. Imagine if The Sheltering Sky took place on Tatooine.
You know what? I was really enjoying that until the obnoxious ending ruined it for me.
Also the percussion sounds like a down-tempo Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. Which is fine!
That was soul-crushing. Thanks?
If only every slow painful death ended in a hipster golfclap.
More music videos that make me cry at my desk, please. Oh, wait.
Not enough ginger huntin' in this to make me cry.
The temple briefly glimpsed in this video was based on a drawing by a friend of mine, really: http://joshslaterstudio.com/home.html
I did not think it was within my power to disagree with Mr. Bry. Until now.
The song may be great but I spent the whole time feeling awful for the animal. Plus the fucking hipsters didn't help it until it was basically dead (pretty much how hipsters do, no?)
Then to top it all off they end the song with some stupid-ass pulsing star bullshit.
So, now I feel sorry for the animal, hate the hipsters, and don't know what they were saying in the song.
I've ended up where I started.
It this a new THING? This use of dying skin-wrinkled monsters? WTF? Like in this Madder Red video with Kristen Bell?
I was thinking of the Kristen Bell video, too. Also, there's Charlie White's photographs from a few years back (sample: http://www.nytimes.com/imagepages/2007/05/10/garden/10whiteCA06ready.html).
I have thoughts on these kids and the like:
That was too sad. Wake me when Dr. Zhivago takes place on Hoth.
Man, I am so glad I read the comments first. Its raining, fer fucks sake!!!!
