India To Choose Symbol For Rupee Today

rupee_symbolIndia's government has held an open call for design ideas for a symbol for its currency, the rupee-to join those internationally recognized as the dollar, the euro, the pound and the yen. The submissions have been narrowed to five, with the winner to be chosen today. True/Slant's Jeff Koyen thinks it's going to be #4, above. But I'm pulling for #2, because of its nice, broad, highly visible lines. I also think something else could work?

Or maybe this more stylized versino of RuPaul?

This is already internationally recognizable, though. It is too bad I didn't hear about this contest until now.

I see you and I raise you.

#1 looks most convenient but it might be a better fit for the Pakistani rupee.

Why not the smiling face of Danny Boyle?

…how about a kangaroo, pissing.

I like No. 5 myself, looks the most modern, and the easiest and most fun to draw.
So that's the one I'm ruping for.

Boo to introducing more nonstandard characters

Final answer: none of the above
