Exciting Things Happen When You Get Off The Internet!

Here is a video documenting what happened when a blogger at the AOL tech blog Switched left the confines of his cube and headed out to ask Times Square visitors whether or not they were aware of Foursquare, the not-a-contest social-networking application that is currently making both money and waves. Spoiler alert: "Huh?" is a common theme! I do wonder what the cutting-room floor footage might look like, as well as what the results of this experiment would be in other neighborhoods / cities / worlds. [Via]

Somewhere the guest list of Obliterati is muttering to themselves about how these people are simply not early adopters. Four Square (and so many similar) is seriously the most bullshit thing ever to receive investor cashola.

I use Foursquare (mostly because I want to see if there are any business applications for work), and I STILL don't get it.

Apart from using it as a lazy way to update my Facebook status without having to type.

FourSquare is a way to let people know where you are, so if you are at a Taco Bell, your friends know, and then Taco Bell corporate will know and then you will get a coupon for that Taco Bell. Bitchin'!

What's the "Internet"?

OMG. We at Switched love the Awl so much. Right now, we are all on our internets passing this link around to each other with squeals and high fives. Virtual high fives, since most of us spend our long blogging hours alone and desolate.

Well, you need a red rubber ball and four people, and each person stands in a 3' by 3' square, and . .

I loved this game as a kid!

So did I. We played while we gabbed. But I'm not sure I could tell you the rules now.

Times Square, eh. I'd think the topics of Uggs or Crocs would have more legs there.

I am starting a new internet thing called beeping. What it is is you press a button and something beeps really really loud. Then you press it again same beep. No matter how you press the button or how much it beeps at you. I will call it beeper soon I will have ten million dollars and girls will talk to me.
