Snoop Dogg, "Oh Sookie"

"Excuse, Mr. Snoop Dogg?"
"Yes?"
"Sorry to bother you, sir. But HBO called. They want to know if you'll do a promotional rap for the True Blood show."
"Oh, True Blood? Yeah, sure. I like that show."
"When should I tell them you'll have it done?"
"About fifteen minutes."
"Very good, sir."

15 minutes, indeed.

Most of which was likely dedicated to thinking of rhymes for "True Blood."

Do you think he dyes his goatee?

We all hate to admit it, but snoop tends to make some really bad decisions. See also: Dogg After Dark.

So is this a step up or a step down from dancing with Gummi Bears and Katy Perry?

Snoop Dogg may be the biggest sellout in the history of people.

When you diss Snoop you diss yourself.

Hey, I love Snoop just as much as the next man. But, considering where the man started, from Death Row to clothing lines, pornos, tons of shitty movies, his own Cadillac, Snoop Dogg hot dogs, etc. It's pretty clear that there's nothing he won't do for a dollar.

That was a really poorly written paragraph above, but I think you get my point.

Very true, RTS. But I think from the beginning, Snoop sort of set himself beyond the whole art v. commerce argument. The notion of "selling out" doesn't mean much, I don't think, to someone who announces to the world that he's got his mind on his money and his money on his mind. I imagine he would readily admit that from the very beginning, his art IS commerce. Death Row is the label that paid him. He's unfadeable so please don't try to fade him.

Touché. And those last two sentences are pretty much the best way to ever defend Snoop. I wonder if his lawyers used it in his murder trial…

Halfway through this video, the page auto-refreshed. Not only did this not annoy me – I took it as a sign from God.

I'll go cleanse my musical palate with his Gorillaz collaboration, if you don't mind.
