"This is just as much a disgrace as the ‘White-Only' signs put up during the civil rights movement."
- Men who are against a woman's right to an abortion will use any metaphor they can imagine to justify trespassing on private property!

Would they feel better about this whole thing if I put their feet in stirrups & jammed something made of steel up them? You know, in the interest of fairness.

scroll_lock (#4,122)

At least buy them dinner first.

The reverend would probably try to make you have the Cesarean salad.

saythatscool (#101)

I'm here all week, try the veal.

I just wonder why we've terminated the "o" from "foetus". Is it like Sophie's Choice where we had to decide which letters to keep?

DoctorDisaster (#1,970)

Good question! We should look it up on wikipædia.

saythatscool (#101)

@scrolly: Spelling nazi.

scroll_lock (#4,122)

@STC: I pronounce it fow-ate-us just to be ornery and vaguely continental.

saythatscool (#101)

Don't get too ornery or well have to take you down to the free clinic again or push you down the stairs. Your choice.

scroll_lock (#4,122)

I'll be lying in the fow-ate-ul position like that time you ate those bad ersters.

saythatscool (#101)

The Gershwins say you're being glib.

Cole Porter says every man is a stupid man but you.

Edith Wharton was right. Analogy is "the most dangerous form of reasoning."

saythatscool (#101)

Well nobody can make these arguments who's in a vacuum.

Ooofa.

@stc: Heh.

Faye Ginsburg's book "Contested Lives:the abortion debate in an American community" is a key text in trying to understand the moral discourse that is deployed by the anti-abortion crowd.

Hey, youngs anti-abortion activists: GET OFF MY LAWN.

roboloki (#1,724)

i can loan you a flamethrower if you need it, doc.

Because nothing says "equality for all" like hassling women who are just as likely to be going in for a free annual pap smear.

I have a wonderful red diaper baby neighbor who routinely attends these kinds of things. But what she does is she brings her ancient boxer with her, a dog who has one eye shut from a benign tumor, a few bald patches on her back, and who continually lets out the most evil, mephitic farts I have ever had the displeasure of smelling.

She stands among the protesters with a shitty little homemade sign and Juliet lets 'em rip. I went with her once and it was all I could do not to bust out screaming with laughter. My neighbor allowed me to feed Juliet a Whopper Junior before our "visit," and let me tell you, that put the "rank" in "rank and file."

I think Mr. Gandhi would approve.

scroll_lock (#4,122)

Rank and vile.

Missy Smith stands in front of the group and claims that sidewalk counseling at the clinic has "saved 300 babies,"

Good for you Missy. Now can you please buy those 300 babies food and diapers and then potty train them and send them to school for the next 18 years. ktnxbai.

What if those turn out to be women who then have 5 abortions each?

brent_cox (#40)

Not to nitpick, but those signs were there well before the Civil Rights movement.

@brent: It is not nitpicking to further illuminate their revisionist history idiocy.

roboloki (#1,724)

i'm perplexed by christians love of life from the moment of conception until the moment of birth. after that, you're on your own. jesus hates toddlers.

If jesus was flanked by toddlers while he was being crucified, he would have been all, "Pull yourselves up by your own boot straps, toddlers!" when they asked for forgiveness.

Pandemic Endemic (#3,825)

WTF is up with the fuzzy-edged photo trend?

It's extra weird seeing that trite device used for this article. Like it's a wedding album or something?

spanish bombs (#562)

I thought this was gonna be about shampooooo. sad.

HiredGoons (#603)

I'm hoping they didn't put a mailbox on that fence.
