Will Oldham Stars In Very Funny Long-Form Beer Commercial

willlllThis video is eleven minutes and five seconds long. But it is very much worth that amount of your day. It is essentially a commercial for Dogfish Head beer, which people who like beer with strong beer flavor seem to like a lot. (I prefer beer than tastes more like water myself, but I am a philistine from New Jersey.) But the video comprises three of the my favorite things in the world: Louisville singer/songwriter Will "Bonnie Prince Billy" Oldham, footage of industrial processing plant machinery, and jokes about robots taking over the world from humans. It's pretty great, have a look.

On the L train in the morning, I was pretty sure I saw Will Oldham.

That was great. I'm glad I listened to the whole thing.

I also like beer that tastes like water. And I'm glad someone else has the balls to admit it. Pass the cold diet coors.

Over New Years I drank half a Dogfish 90 Minute IPA and then forgot it outside on the deck during a smoke break. The beer froze and I thought all the IPA-loving bros at the party were gonna beat me up for my careless wastefulness of their sweet, sweet nectar.

Is Will maturing into a lankier Wallace Shawn?

Isn't the whole premise undercut by the fact that this is most definitely filmed at the Dogsharkalligator Brewery? These machines, these computers, these are the computers and machines that actually are used to make this "human" beer.

But we are blind because 1) Funny[ish] Robot, 2) Loveable human star, 3) Higher price, and 4) Overpowering hoppy flavor providing obvious and shallow counterpoint to the clean, refreshing taste of other beers with higher production runs.

I hate microbrews. There's a lot more to beer than hops and seasonal fruits, you assholes!
