"Law & Order," 1990-2010

Law & Order: Officially canceled. (SVU and the D'Onofrio-gutted CI remain, and the L.A. spinoff of the franchise, groan, debuts this fall.) I'm going to start the "Let's Blame Jay Leno" backlash right here! Who's with me?

Too bad, the trades were reporting it was still undecided this morning.

Never saw an episode. All these shows blur together- LA Law, Law and Order, Boston Legal- although BL can boast spectacularly "WTF happened to them?" bloated Shatner and James Spader so that's distinctive.

This is like the death of Budweiser "heavy". Bud Lite having taken over the world.

These were their stories.

Are we past the days of being able to blame Dick Cheney for things? Because he seems like the type who would cancel Law & Order.

Is the Downfall clip up yet?

Eleven years ago, my partner and I left the big city to spend a few months at an isolated farm/hostel in BC. By isolated, I mean they were a half-hour boat ride across the lake from town and had to generate their own electricity. As you can imagine, there was no cable TV. The only video entertainment we had were about a dozen VHS movies that former hostelers had left there and the L&Os that the owner had taped off the TV she had in her home in town. Once a month we'd get a new tape filled with four eps and we'd gleefully devour them at one swipe in an afternoon. For one as starved for visions of civilization (such as it is but I didn't see a paved road for a two-month stretch), this was a welcome lifeline — or death line as the case may be. There will always be a late-twentysomething part of me grateful for the existence of this show. Ave, atque, vale L&O. Chung! Chung! FTW.

I had a similar experience with Cranford.

I mostly watch the reruns anyway, but Original Flavor was still providing so many jobs!

All I can say is Lt. Van Buren better die of that cancer they've been wasting so much time on this season. And it better be good.

So we'll never hear the word 'semen' on broadcast TV again?

no, 'svu' got renewed. so child rape will also remain as well.

How am I going to keep abreast of the latest crimes if L&O isn't "ripping them from the headlines" for me? Don't tell me I have to start reading the Post police blotter.

L&O: SVU + "420(pffft!)" = Gets. Me. Every. Time.

This is a total blow to the NYC economy. How will the actors live now?!?

Is this because I'm a lesbian?
