As this was posted in a UK paper yesterday, I chose to treat it as a cruel April Fool's joke.

Brought a tear to these otter-loving eyes, too. But a happy tear, really. They lived long lives (albeit in cruel captivity, but that's another matter) and the second one was spared loneliness by his death from heartbreak. A similar thing happened to an elderly couple that used to live next door to me. Lived well into their 80s, died within a couple weeks of each other. I found that heartwarming.
…and now I am listening to Rick Astley's "Together Forever" on loop.
Through my tears, I did find it interesting that the photo of Daz and Chip was credited to the U.S. Marshal's Service. I'm too distraught, though, to make any sense out of that.
Those otters were mules!
I bet the Daily Mail had to have some serious editorial meetings about whether they were promoting homosexual lifestyles by running this story.

I saw these otters only very recently (yep, that's the benefit of living in Convict Island's better behaved and more sensible cousin, Economic Migrant Islands) and I've just spent the last few days thinking "why! why didn't I take some video of those cute little guys? I could probably make some pocket money out of that!"
Also, Naturelands, where these guys lived, is well known for two other things:
1) having monkeys that masturbate openly in public
2) having a monkey with Down Syndrome. He's pretty cute too but has to be separated from the wanking monkeys, otherwise they pick on him, make him do their chores etc.
And I am sending an email about those monkeys to my EMI living friend. I was going to post it to her FB page, but then thought that "Hey, I read about masturbating monkeys and thought of you!" might not be something one would want on FB
