Mature New Yorkers Will Share Cabs Just Fine

New York City's share-a-taxi program begins this week! "New Yorkers are grown-ups. I think they're going to work it out," says Taxi and Limousine Commissioner Matthew Daus, who gets points for optimism, at least.

A banker, a drag queen, and a rabbi are sharing a cab when the driver asks ....

This is a great idea that I hope works. In the Dominican Republic they have their "guagua" bus system that I have used to go all over the country. They pick you up anywhere on the highway, you tell them where you want to get off and you pay next to nothing when you get off.

Now as for their practice of never closing the side door and cramming as many people as will fit into the guagua, maybe we can improve upon that.

This only brings to mind trying to seize cabs at 3am in Adams Morgan and the fights that ensue and how many people really did fit in that cab... I dunno, this could either way.

Your city is a parade of indignities!

Enjoy your $20 cigarettes and adjacent couple clandestine taxi cab fingerbangs!

This is going to be really awkward when you try to steal a cab from someone, and they end up sitting next to you for twenty minutes.
