Everyone's still talking about that Esquire profile of Roger Ebert, including Roger Ebert. It's a terrific post script to a terrific article.

If by "still talking", you mean "tearing up at the thought of" then I think you're right. I had to take a break to collect myself after the bit about Disney deleting his Youtubes. Beautiful stuff.

It's the last paragraphs that do it for me.

I read it online at work, which was a foolish thing to do in an open plan office. I had to say the fluorescent lights were bothering my eyes.

"talking" – bad choice of words.

When they got married all those years ago I remember thinking, whoa, strange couple kind of! Now it's like HOW PERFECT are they. When she said, "like a movie star," I thought I was going to die.

Agreed. What a beautiful couple.

He's a tireless and great twitter-er; he seems to enjoy poking at right wing blow hards. Sometimes you can just tell he's slapping his knees with delight. I don't think I would have discovered his wonderful writing if he was still able to speak.

I think it's quite something that Ebert has become one of the highest profile people I can think of who has, for all intents and purposes, stopped leading a life in the physical world and has transplanted his life online. He has become one of the more unlikely candidates to lead a virtual life. Obviously, he still has a meaningful physical life, but he has – by his own admission – found his reason to keep living a meaningful life largely through his online interactions.

HE IS THE LAWNMOWER MAN!

We all knew it was going to happen. The only question was when.

That piece is a shoe-in for a National Magazine Award.

Oh, and anyone who hasn't seen the actual print version, pick it up on the newsstand and take a look. There's some nice pictures, and a good layout (that shows actual Post-Its Ebert wrote on).
