Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, "Up Out My Face"

Just in time for Valentine's Day: Matching Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj softcore robot Barbie sex-dolls. Again, Nicki Minaj kinda weirds me out with the Marcel-Marceau stuff. But, in this track that came out early this week and has, unexpectedly, been growing on me ever since, she doesn't shrink an inch next to Mariah and her rhymes are good. And then, at the end, the video's director, Mariah's husband Nick Cannon, pays homage to his starmaking turn in 2002's Drumline. Hammy stuff. But... oddly and inexplicably? I like it.

Like "Ego" and such, melodic with the occasional chord but otherwise not much sound, this just screams freestyle. My money is on Trey Songz + Gucci Mane.

Have you heard the Nicki Minaj rap over Beyoncé’s "Single Ladies"? It's super annoying, but I can never get these lines out of my head:
I was a thirty-two D in my Dugarees,
Can I have a couple more cucumbers, please?
Now I'm that bitch,
now I'm the bad witch,
I need a lot of cheese up on my sandwich.

I have not. But that sounds about right. Nicki Minaj sounds like she's been getting cheese to spare lately. (And good for her!)

For some reason her style/lines make me think of a girl Kanye.

Can't wait for their video to celebrate Steak and a Blow Job day!

It's Mariah! She's often likable inexplicably.

Usually not for me. I can't think of a Mariah song i've like like this since "Fantasy." And that was back in, what, 1995?

It's a good thing Nicki Minaj prefers to be photographed on the left side of her face.

this was one of the songs i liked most on mariah's last cd, i like it sans nicki minaj. apparently minaj killed it at the cypher before the bet awards last year - which makes sense, i like her freestyle much better than her often wack (as iplaudius notes above) lyrics when she's doing a collabo...

also, i think every song should feature some hbcu's marching band - can never go wrong with some horns and a drumline!

I feel like I'm watching a very long Target ad for some reason.

Inane comment: Those Solo cups behind her in the red shop set are driving me bonkers. They hired a marching band and bought a raft of wigs, but the budget couldn't do better than disposable cups in the set dressing?
