Even Aesthetes Are Getting In On Super Bowl Action

Too sweet for Indianapolis?Last week Slate's Josh Levin tweeted that a "Colts-Saints matchup would generate the most-lopsided mayoral food bet in Super Bowl history." (The bet wound up being King Cake, beignets, and cafe au lait vs. Indianapolis shrimp cocktail, which seems a little slack on New Orleans' part, but, you know, fucking Nagin.) A far more interesting wager, however, is happening between the directors of the Indianapolis Museum of Art and the New Orleans Museum of Art. As a correspondent noted, it is likely the only time you will see the words "sentimental blancmange" in relation to Super Bowl speculation. Also: Go Saints.

Oh my god, tremendous. "...just looks like another over-elaborate Victorian tchotchke." Burn baby burn.

Yes! I was actually on the edge of my seat as the NOMA and IMA directors upped and re-upped the ante. Seriously, this is the most awesome article I've read all week. "Sorry, (Indiana) but we (New Orleans) have no farm scenes or portraits of football players to send you" just killed.

Yes! Now this is an Art War I can get behind. Black framed eyeglasses are gonna get fogged!

Also: arts journals haven't been this fun since artnet ran its "Ask Mark Kostabi" advice column.

Ah yes, that famous "Indianapolis shrimp cocktail." Available at all the famous Indianapolis seaside restaurants.

I wondered the same. I'd go with Letterman's mom's pies or something.
