Clay Risen to the 'NYT' Op Ed Page

CLAYClay Risen, now formerly of Democracy, also liquor-blogger for the Atlantic, author of A Nation on Fire: America in the Wake of the King Assassination and contributing editor for The Morning News, has left that all behind for a job on the New York Times op-ed page. You can start vetting his previous work and his Twitter for LIBERAL BIAS now. (But since you know he loves that crazy radical Martin Luther King so you also already know that he's somewhere to the left of the socialist Obama administration. HOW TYPICAL.)

Per his bio…he's into architecture, southern literature and booze.

I love him already.

Just as long as he doesn't start borrowing David Brooks's peach lipstick, I think we're good.

Why doesn't the Awl have a liquor-blogger? They can't all have been nabbed by the Times.

Can they?

zidaane (#373)

They are still in-fighting over cigarettes.

Well House and Garden folded, so maybe they can get Jay McInerney.

What I don't understand is why The Awl doesn't have a liquor-benefactor. Who invites us all out to be benefacted to. And who keeps Balk in something other than Old Crow. (OH ALEX NO.)

Yes, what is the alcohol equivalent of a sugar daddy? Suggestions / applications appreciated.

That namedrop alone makes you my hero.

Well everyone knows Johnny Walker is just that, a walker – so I'd venture to wager.

DoctorDisaster (#1,970)

Balk is drinking Old Crow and jolie's avatar is hogging all the Knob Creek? This is NOT RIGHT.

zidaane (#373)

Is that a special 'eyeglass' cut?

Vulpes (#946)

Jonty Hearndon?! (Let's see who else is obsessed with BBCAmerica!)

Seriously, is Clay gay? He looks familiar…as if I've slept with him. There's a reason why I don't drink any more.

Tulletilsynet (#333)

Can I google that for you?

Well, hes kind of cute compared to Douthat. At least we have that!
