Friendster? More like ENDster!

Who's with me?

I was an early adopter - and an early drop-out. I blame them for how long it took me to accept the reality of Facebook and Twitter.

Mock away. But without Friendster, there would have been no Kerry intern.

The fucked-up thing is that Friendster was (IIRC) a lot more usable than Myspace at every point in their overlap. I still can't believe Myspace has every band in the world (five fucking million) with HTML that would make my Geocities I-hate-the-Spice-Girls page blush.
I thought the post was bonna be about how pathetic Myspace is, actually. I've already quit, but here's how, why and when you should in case you haven't seen it.

Is that built with Geocities?

I only remember Friendster when I vanity name search myself, find that it's STILL in my top results, try to shut down my profile, learn that I can't remember my username or password, and take another drink.

It could be worse. You could be on My Death Space.

Wow. This indicates that Friendster is from the Era Before Gmail, when you could actually lose information like usernames. I'll drink to this.

thinking about the EBG make me nervous. time for another morning cocktail!

When will people migrate back to Friendster - like the recent proliferation of aol usernames - as an ironic way to communicate?

Having run out of vintage clothes, the nation's youth will soon adopt vintage technology. Desktop PII 350's will be the computer du jour. The Diskman will rise again. CELL PHONES THE SIZE OF BRICKS!

Wasn't the AOL thing a marketing myth? Or did they just lay off a third of their employees in celebration of their new success with the youth of today?

paxcincinnatus

Well, not the first time I've been wrong.

You guys, we totally do not need to be worrying about this unless, apparently, we are Asian and between the ages of 15 and 19. REWATCH THE VIDEO. God.

It's been big in Singapore and the Philippines for some time.

What an excellent idea, only market it to Asian teenagers. They never know whats on the cutting edge of technology, they will hop right on board!

The example profile in the video is for a young lady in Manila. Maybe Friendster is big in the Philippines like Orkut is in Brazil? Oh God is this the genesis of another Black People Twitter?

I am friends with people on Friendster that I am no longer friends with. :(

the "i want a man forever in my life" quote on that example profile just gave me the sads.
