Dave Zirin on the Situation of that Famous Golfer: Dubai, Chevron and Malcolm X
This should be just about the only coverage regarding the situation of that famous golfer in which we will indulge: Dave Zirin, the sportswriter for The Nation (yes!), on the actual questions one might be asking of said golfer.

I actually saw this live and almost fell off my chair — it was like, a reporter actually aware of key facts about the person of whom he is speaking, relating those facts to an audience.
Right? I was in bed and was all like HAY???
great clip!
more proof that Rachel Maddows' the only anchor that matters these days.
Fair comment, indeed.
So, here's my f/u question: Why does Tiger have to get brained by the missues with a six iron for hooking into the NYC nightclub bunker before someone–Rachel, I love you, but you too–raises these issues?
"missus," misuse, Dotty.
I demand the "missues" portmanteau start being used on the regular! Issues with the missus!
Would Rachel have laughed at the '6 strokes, but taking a 4' line if it was Mrs. Woods on the receiving end?
Can someone at Jezebel please pick up the purple courtesy phone?
I demand a strong rebuke!
Maybe he never commented on the situation in Dubai because he is pro-sex trade and slave labor?
Marketing doesn't = politics. Duh.
Just buy his shit, m'k?
I know. It's the same argument that used to be made about Jordan. STFU with the politics and JUST BUY IT.
Thing is, his business dealings ARE icky (hello – slave labour and possible underaged sex trade traficking? ew.), but who are we kidding coming down on him for using civil rights slogans in ads? As long as it sells product, nobody gives a shit. Well, except delusional reporters desperate for a lead.
No one seems to be picking up the scoop from Hannah Rosin in Slate: if the police determine that she scratched his face, they're required by law to haul her off to jail, regardless of whether he wants to press charges. The Florida law is a well-intentioned attempt to deal with abused women who often don't want to press charges, but has odd consequences for cases like this. Hence his hiding from the police.

I mildly care about these issues, but, well, yawn.
