""If President Obama has to send (more) troops into Afghanistan to fight evil, I'll pull for our guys to win, and I won't apologize for it,. I'm an American, and I do pull for our team to fight evil."
-Country singer Toby Keith, currently in Oslo to perform at the annual Nobel Peace Prize concert. Keith is now considered the odds-on favorite to win next year's Nobel Peace Prize.

I would like to hear Ronbo's thoughts on this.
Toby Keith playing at the Nobel Peace Prize concert is like the Dixie Chicks playing at a Republican tea party or Sarah Palin being Grand Marshall of a gay rights parade.
Really. Why didn't they just get Anita Bryant?
Is this surprising just because he's a country singer? It's well documented that Keith (a longtime Democrat BTW) said great things about Obama during the election. Some dumb things too but he wasn't dismissive. And he certainly disliked McCain.
As for the comment, he's just saying exactly what Obama said without the style, no? Obama used the word "evil" too. And, despite making it all SOUND pretty, Obama's speech basically justified both the wars, no?
Toby Keith regularly says stupid things but I don't know if this is one of them. Aside from the use of 'evil', and that he is playing the Nobel Peace Prize concert (seriously, who the f is the book agent!?), it's not that outrageous.
*booking. damn not being able to edit
Kind of roundabout way to tell us he supports the Right to Die campaign, but all right.
I sure hope he will be playing "put a boot in your ass, cause it's the American way" at the concert!
"fight," "evil," "our guys," "win," "won't apologize." Yup. Toby done snatched every single piece of low hanging rhetorical fruit off the damn branches.
Why is it that people criticize celebrities for having political opinions but Country Music singers can say whatever dumb shit falls from between their teeth?
I think they periodically spew this manure in order to keep their audience. You remember what happened to the Dixie Chicks.
I can't believe the link was real.
Keith added that this was the second year in a row the Norwegian Nobel Committee had invited him to perform at the concert.
Apparently, the one thing Toby Keith won't do to fight evil is join the U.S. Army or the Marine Corps and, well, go fight evil.
Didn't you read that? It says he's 'pulling for them to win.'! He didn't say if he was enjoying a beer and Doritos while cheering them on, though.
Whatever. It's Norway. They all think he's Slim Whitman.
