"Sprinkles, the Beverly Hills bakery that helped launched the modern cupcake craze, is once again revolutionizing New Yorkers’ dessert. The company is bringing its much-hyped Cupcake ATM to its bakery at 780 Lexington Ave. near 60th Street, following a multi-year anticipation."
I make a mean red velvet cake and cupcake. It has more cocoa powder and less flour in it than the Paula Deen recipe I used the first time I tried my hand at red velvet, and it is super moist and crazy red. The cream cheese frosting is waaaay less sweet than the miserable dreck that so often sullies the good name of the best frosting in all of Frostingham. But I won't make them for you. You have to make your own red velvet and here’s why: I despise red velvet cake.
First of all, it takes white vinegar. Which? You can’t see me right now but [...]
"Aberdeen, Washington, the home town of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain – a place he once mocked as 'Twin Peaks without the excitement' – is holding its first annual Kurt Cobain Day on Thursday. Celebrations will include the unveiling of Cement Resurrection, a full-scale statue of Cobain by local artist Randi Hubbard, at the Aberdeen Museum of History. Local band Gebular will play a set expected to contain a number of Nirvana covers. And cupcakes, cookies and light refreshment will be served, according to mayor Bill Simpson."
If you are a person who is either an Anglophile or an ursinophile or both, you likely already know this: “In the United Kingdom, good weather at Candlemas is taken to indicate severe winter weather later: 'If Candlemas Day is clear and bright, / winter will have another bite. / If Candlemas Day brings cloud and rain, / winter is gone and will not come again.' It is also alleged to be the date that bears emerge from hibernation to inspect the weather."
But you may not know that in Mexico, Candlemas, or Día de la Candelaria, is a family and religious holiday celebrated throughout [...]
"It's not a big deal. It's not going to make me a cupcake addict. In fact, it could be helpful. It might push me off sweets for a while." -Brooklyn resident and aspiring competitive eater Megan Daum looks at the long-term health benefits of forcing 24 chocolate cupcakes down her gullet during a 12-minute timespan in a all-amateur cupcake-eating contest scheduled for this weekend in Bay Ridge. Please make a note about the supplanting of cupcakes with marshmallows, as decreed by T. Still, I think that's REALLY unfortunate, because I wanted profiteroles to be the new cupcakes, and you just know petits fours are going to be the new marshmallows in a couple months. 2012 SUCKS.
"When Andrew DeMarchis and Kevin Graff, two 13-year-olds from Chappaqua's Seven Bridges Middle School, set up shop at Gedney Park on a fall weekend last month, they were expecting a tidy profit. Instead, the two wannabe entrepreneurs selling cupcakes, cookies, brownies and Rice Krispie treats baked by them for $1 apiece got a taste of cold, hard bureaucracy. New Castle Councilman Michael Wolfensohn came upon the sale and called the cops on the kids for operating without a license." —Local man trounces local Jewish children with a dream.
