Maybe I’m less of a germophobe than most people, but where I come from, New York Times City Room bloggers, “It’s so hot, you can fry an egg on the sidewalk” does not mean “It’s so hot, you can scramble an egg on a pan that has been placed on top of a manhole cover that’s positioned just close enough to the curb for us to not get run over in the name of journalistic stuntage.” Hmph. With NYC temperatures expected to be soul-suckingly high once again today, I’m wondering if it’s time to find a car and convince its owner to let me bake cookies on its dashboard.
