On Lobstah And Crafts! A Summertime Guide To Portland (The Real One, In Maine)

Ahhh my old boss lived on Great Diamond and enjoyed the glorious commute of water taxi, land taxi, airplane, to get to work every week. If his fridge was empty, he'd jump in the canoe and catch a fish for lunch. It always sounded like some kind of Brigadoon overrun with lolling fat Labradors and dancing lobstahs.

On Things I Didn't Get To Eat (Or Drink) At The Great GoogaMooga

@Reginal T. Squirge Sooo many disposable type flip flops on dudes on the train! Bleagh! I decided in half a second I hated seeing dude feet in tiny flip flops! It looked like they were wearing their girlfriend's shoes.

On Okay, Help: What's Your Ideal Afternoon in Brooklyn for Tourists?

@stuffisthings I'm conflicted about that, too. Those are all MIIIINNNNE. No Sharing, but then I go and tell everyone about it anyway, so...

On Okay, Help: What's Your Ideal Afternoon in Brooklyn for Tourists?

Everyone has given great ideas, but do not discount Jane's Carousel at night! It is magnificant and glowing! Which makes a lovely pairing for a glass of champagne at the River Cafe. Also, the movie theater at ReBar is down the street and plenty quirky. Dumbo makes for a lovely evening stroll along the waterfront for out of towners. Noodle Pudding is an easy recommendation if you do a stroll of the Heights and then do Dumbo after dinner.

On Who Will Protect Catholics from Rick Santorum?

@jamietie Santorum has some very very strong backers with frighteningly strong ties to the Vatican. This doesn't mean that the Vatican or that the entirety of the church agrees with him, but the Vatican will let a lot slide if the money is going one way and the drivel is turned the other.

On Manhattan Traffic Advisory for the Clueless

@ericdeamer That is sort of great. That said, I went to the Yankee's ticker tape parade last time they won the World Series just to see what it was like and it was a nightmare. Drunk belligerent people corralled together with no escape except fisticuffs. And that was just the women.

On And How Did Your Holiday Weekend End?

@happymisanthrope It could be worse, I could have driven home.

On And How Did Your Holiday Weekend End?

I had no issues with my travels (where were all the travelers?! The airports were empty!), besides listening to the kid next to me flailingly try to pick up the girl in the seat next to him from boarding to landing. But my God, what would I give for the the Atlantic Terminal planners to have thought, if you're going to connect the Air Train to LIRR directly to the subway, put a goddamm escalator in SOMEWHERE. Hauling a suitcase up and down stairs to only find that a train isn't running starts to find the end of a travelers fuse. But hey, small quibbles.

On The Horror Of The Seventies

@freetzy That was my first thought! But then the mountains ruined it.
