On Facebook IPO the "equivalent of a must-see Super Bowl Sunday showdown"!
There's a factual error in that Dealbook liveblog thingie. They quote some guy as saying the online brokerages need a hit record right now as badly as Kelly Clarkson does. However, Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger" just very recently hit number one on the Billboard 100: http://www.billboard.com/charts/hot-100#/song/kelly-clarkson/stronger-what-doesn-t-kill-you/27595475

On The Idiot's Guide to Reading Korean
Korean is among the easiest (I wanna say it's the easiest but I don't really know enough to say but I bet it is) phonetic scripts in the world to figure out. And, yes, it basically looks correct to me, though of course I'm not a native speaker of Korean. The funny thing is (and maybe someone who really knows something about linguistics can get more into this) supposedly the shapes of those characters are actually based on the shapes your tongue makes as it pronounces these sounds.

On On the Other Hand, Never Write a Book
@Matt I agree. Like @davetar up there at first I was like hoo boy here comes some weird conspiracy theory that they secretly had Bo put down or something but in fact the person just loves Bo and wants to see more. I agree with them! (I'm also a "dog person".) And I think the detailed historical perspective of the higher media profile of previous first dogs actually made their argument very strong. I guess the letter writer is technically a "crank" or a "loon" or whatever nomenclature you want to use in that they're zeroing in on what would seem to be a very minor detail but they're not saying anything crazy or conspiratorial about it and they're not wrong.
