My reaction stemmed from having already actually experienced this version live in person, but that may be the problem. Knowing that a recording can be completely different experience (hello Glenn Gould) and seeing your willingness to stand up for it... sure I'll give it another whirl.

Hmm I'm sure I'm overreacting here on the basis of my general squeamishness about "marimba arrangements." But serious keyboard music on the marimba = nobody wins. This one is particularly "look what I can do"-ish.
