On Who's Afraid Of Lana Del Rey?
@Multiphasic Find me a story where anyone says Lana del Rey is 25, for that matter. She's been aging backwards in the last few months of press coverage.

On What Happened This Morning at Occupy Wall Street
@Davetar Actually, i was last down there on Thursday, and that was EXACTLY what I walked away saying. The guy with the guitar wanted everyone to sing "We Shall Overcome," the snotty, heckling teenagers wanted donations ("For the movement! We swear, man!") the homeless guy wanted food, the NYU students wanted me to do something about their student loans, I guess (no one MADE you go into debt to study philosophy, dude) and those were pretty much the only agendas I heard articulated. Not to mention the smell was unbelievable, as were the number of people who were still passed out in their tents at 1pm. Whatever force OWS has nationally, Zucotti Park was becoming a cesspool.

On The JFK/OWS Connection
So this is Ted Hall, representative of Occupy Wall Street, on the record? "The NYPD was very respectful toward me. My experience with the police was ideal. I felt like they were looking out for me. Incredible, awesome people."
The times, they are a'changin, indeed.

On Rental Brokers Are Useless
@Matt Creamer@facebook My current apartment was found through a similar situation: our broker had an exclusive on the whole building as long as he was able to rent it all within a month and he was down to his last three apartments. We walked in at 7pm, he showed us both places he had within our price range, we picked one, he paid our application fee out of his fee, and by the next morning we had an adorable albeit tiny three-bedroom in the heart of the West Village for $2400/mo. My parents, lifelong New Yorkers, refer to him as my unicorn, and I have referred at least a half dozen people to him, several of whom also found great places. The woman I used when I first moved back was a rude, evil wench who, it turned out, actually worked for our management company as well as representing herself as a broker for an independent company, which I'm pretty sure is illegal since she'd pretend to be someone else when she answered the phone at the office number.

On Six Reasons To Ignore The 'New York Times' Yoga Article
The article in NYMag on David Regelin that was published this week was an interesting counterpoint to the NYT article too, I thought:
http://nymag.com/fitness/features/david-regelin-yoga-2012-1/
It's basically the same "don't go to a bad teacher" argument, except that lots of people also seem to think that Regelin himself is a bad teacher in certain ways. I think the most important message in both is to know and respect your personal limits--yes, yoga, is to a certain degree about pushing yourself, but it's also about knowing yourself and paying attention to your body, and if you know that you're in a shitty fitness-oriented Vinyasa class at your gym where no one is going to make adjustments and help you work into the poses, maybe don't do that headstand and don't go as fast as the teacher always wants you to go and when your wrists hurt, sit back in Child's Pose. Removing ego from the experience is an important message; trying to "win" at yoga is always a mistake.
