The Irish connection makes the most sense. The English invaded and made English the language of the lands they took over in Elizabethan times. They never stamped out Gaelic and the the Irish to this day resent the English presence and the forced capture of their tongue. Study the brogue and match with the Bard's works. The match is uncanny. The King James Bible reads better with an Irish Brogue.
