@werewolfbarmitzvah not sure but maybe that public advocate position isn't the easiest position to form a base. I also have doubts that the financial capital of the usa, were either you are a banker or servicing their shit, can ever have a progressive mayor.
I don't Eliot has the people skills to play with others, and he doesn't have bloomberg money to ignore them. He should run for attorney general again and start suing every piece of shit banker.

I never really get why people feel this clown is a progressive champion. He was more a moderate, especially when he last ran for mayor, and is mainly famous for getting face time in front of cameras without getting anything done.
