On Four Writers Explain How They're Writing Novels

For what it's worth, what you say reflects my own experiences. As much as I enjoy the feeling of pen and paper, I'm carving time to write, and it's easier to do that electronically. I schlep my laptop everywhere, because even a paragraph written while my son's in karate, for example, is a paragraph more than I had before. What matters is that it gest done, not how it gets done.

Also, halfbaked sociobiology cuts in two directions, dearest Melanie. Sure, it's 'natural' for you to seek a silverback with the greenbacks, but when he discards you like yesterday's trash for a younger model with fuller lips, will you still hum the same tune? Because he's just being true to his biological imperative, right?

Really, Vanity Fair? Hasn't this been done before? I don't mean this awl posting, but the idea that some upwardly mobile (if that's the term for someone who'll end up on her back) 20something woman who doesn't want to work in the conventional sense or, heavens forfend, sacrifice to get the goodies, turns to big-bucks prostitution to get what she wants. This isn't news, even if the sociobiological rationalization is kind of cute, this isn't even really commentary, it's just chumming the water.

On Take These Tests While You're Reading This Post

Hmmm, a distractibility test. I gave up on question three. I figured that between cleaning the kitchen, making bread, getting my son fed, and pushing my husband out the door i was distracted enough with...wait, what?
