it was the very book you were reading right now! Could you not just choke yourself to death with your own fingers?
No, but I bet Ian McEwan could.

It's so hard being an out-of-work actor, isn't it?

@saythatscool Ooh interesting - we seem to be defining the immediate problem differently. I would define it problem as the assumption that a black kid walking through a white neighborhood is automatically suspicious (made more suspicious by, yes, a hoodie)You see the laws as the problem, I see the racism. (Which I think we can all agree is the reason WHY those laws are not being enforced properly.)
There is a legitimate tie-in to Slutwalk here, as much as DD may joke - you shouldn't automatically be a target for assault based simply on what you're wearing. (And, yes, Slutwalk became it's own complicated hot mess. But the basic idea is, I think, a valid one.)
The gun laws in this country are fundamentally fucked up. Law enforcement, and how it acts across this entire country, not just Florida, is fundamentally fucked up.
But I think tonight CNN will talk about hipsters in hoodies for a moment rather than talking about, oh, Tim Tebow or whatever else is on TMZ at the moment. They are NEVER going to talk about the more pervasive, complicated, legal and moral issues. Hipsters in hoodies is better than nothing at all.

NYT reporter: "'The Earth is flat, say sources at the Flat Earth Society. Some astronomers, however, may disagree."
