I'm pretty sure that Sinclair Lewis won the Pulitzer for Arrowsmith, and that it wasn't rescinded, but that he refused it.

On The Job Board: Need an Employee? Need a Job? Inquire Within
Hello there!
I'm Kevin Dugan, pleased to meet you.
I've been in the writing business for about four years now, though at the moment I'm doing a non-writing job in order to pay the bills.
My last full-time journalism job was reporting from Vilnius, Lithuania for the English-language news website Baltic Reports. There, I mostly covered the Seimas (Lithuania's parliament), local affairs, business, finance, and, occasionally, international relations. My second week there was during a swine flu pandemic (I came down with A-H1N1, but it wasn't that bad) and broke a number of those stories in the international press. Links here: http://balticreports.com/?author=26
I am also the co-founder, managing editor, and guy generally in charge of handling non-fiction at Armchair/Shotgun, a biannual literary magazine. Since it is a very small organization, I do writing, editing, and contribute to bringing ads in. www.armchairshotgun.com
Other than that, I have worked as the managing editor of the Greenpoint Gazette, and in college I was the senior news editor for the New School Free Press. (Links for those articles are down, and are generally old and not totally representative of my work now). I also freelance about. Here's a short piece I did recently: http://encoremag.com/new-york/articles/3284/at-their-best-not-so-much
I'm looking to write, and I would love to do that for The Awl. Although a lot of my work is straight-up reported pieces, I want to write more about what you guys do, that is, culture and arcana. I also like the direction this site goes in; it was because of the Awl that I saw Krzysztof Penderecki conduct the "Threnody" at Carnegie Hall. (Although my professional background is in journalism, I'm trained in music theory--classical and jazz--and occasionally write "serious" music.)
At the moment I live in Jersey, but it's faster for me to get into the city now than when I lived in Bed-Stuy. I'm moving back to Brooklyn next month, though.
So if you're interested, please let me know! Kevin(dot)dugan(at)gmail(dot)com.
All the best,
Kevin
